There are 2 Music courses in S2/3. These are:

Music: Music Technology

The courses build on the work introduced in S1 and allow pupils to specialize in particular aspects of the subject.

Each of the courses offers a clear progression to the music courses in the upper school (S4-6), at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher.

Pupils work in the areas of Performing, Composing / Technology and Listening.

In Performing, pupils work throughout the course to develop skills on 2 instruments of their choice.

In Composing / Technology, pupils create original pieces of music using instruments and music software.

In Listening, pupils will develop and understanding of musical concepts, styles and literacy.

Music: Technology

Today’s music industry relies heavily on technology. This course offers pupils an opportunity to create and perform music using technology, such as music production software, multitrack digital recorders and mixing desks. The course is an ideal introduction to how today’s music is made and can lead on to further study at National 4, National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher in S4 – 6.
